About Steinwoods

Our Story

Growing up in an old country schoolhouse, I learned early on how to work with my hands, how to repair things when they broke and build the things I didn’t have.

What started as a childhood hobby—carving small items and building basic furniture eventually grew into a passion for creating pieces as functional as they are beautiful.

For years, I balanced a career as a professional engineer while at the same time developing my skills as a part-time woodworker.

With my wife Erin by my side, we finally took a leap of faith and turned this passion into Steinwoods, getting back to the basics – working with my hands, bringing designs to life through wood.

Principles and Values

Our goal is simple, to bring intricate designs to life with engineering precision and exceptional craftsmanship. Guided by a deep faith in God, unwavering integrity, and a profound respect for the materials we use, we strive to create furniture that makes you proud to have it in your space.

  • Built to Last: Furniture needs to be more than beautiful—it needs to stand the test of time. Whether it’s a dining table that anchors family gatherings or a custom piece to showcase your most cherished items, our works are designed to last for generations.

  • Unique Expertise: With over 20 years of experience as a professional engineer and a lifetime of woodworking, I bring the right combination of technical expertise and creative vision to every project. This fusion ensures not only precision and functionality but also designs that elevate your space and reflect your personal style.

  • Wood with Character: Whether it’s new lumber or old, every piece tells a story. With a passion for sourcing and refining, we transform both new and old into stunning furniture that blends a past history with modern design.

  • Giving Back: Sharing our gifts and helping others is at the core of our purpose. While creating beautiful furniture is fulfilling, it’s often the most basic items that have the greatest impact. A few years ago, I designed school desks and have the ongoing honor of teaching woodworkers in Central America how to build them, building desks and relationships to make a difference.

A Personal Touch

Family is the cornerstone of my life and my work. As a husband and father of four, I understand the profound role that meaningful pieces can play in shaping a home. Furniture is more than just functional—it’s the backdrop to the moments that matter most, from shared meals to quiet evenings, to celebrations and milestones.

When I create a piece of furniture, my goal is not just to enhance your home or achieve your design vision; it’s to craft something that becomes a part of your family’s story. I strive to create timeless, heirloom-quality pieces that will be loved and cherished for generations—furniture that holds memories as much as it holds purpose.

Every piece I build carries with it a commitment to craftsmanship, care, and character. Whether it’s a dining table that brings loved ones together or a mantel that frames a lifetime of celebrations, I hope my work will be more than a fixture in your home—I hope it will become a treasure for your family.
